ULB management announced today the relocation of two Pioneer League franchises: the former Hamakua Island Warriors are moving to Queens, NY to become the Queens Metropolitans and the Las Vegas Flush is headed to Florida to become the Tampa Cat 5. An announcement of two expansion clubs is expected shortly.

 | Saturday, October 7th, 2006: 38 Saves and 0.76 ERA Gets Burton of Las Vegas PL Outstanding Pitcher Award for 2006
When the call went out to the bullpen, Doug Burton provided some lights-out pitching this past season. While logging 59 innings pitched, Burton recorded 38 saves, 43 strikeouts, and an ERA of 0.76. All told, he compiled a 4-1 record, while blowing only 2 save opportunities. As a result, the Las Vegas reliever was today awarded the PL Outstanding Pitcher Award for 2006.

 | Monday, September 11th, 2006: Emmanuel Kovac of the Flush Takes Pioneer League Player of the Week Trophy
Pitchers who faced the Las Vegas Flush last week were happy to see Emmanuel Kovac in the rear view mirror. The 24-year-old third baseman was dubbed the Pioneer League Player of the Week for a 4-game tear that produced a .400 on base percentage and a 1.067 slugging percentage.
Those numbers came, in part, from no bases on balls and 4 extra-base hits, to go along with 8 runs batted in and 4 runs scored.
Kovac has a .311 on base percentage for the year. He has picked up 110 hits and driven in 67 runs. In 434 at-bats, he has stroked 45 extra-base hits, including 14 home runs.
