| Breaking News |  | Sunday, October 8th, 2006: Phoenix First Baseman Mike Chapman Nabs 2006 PL Most Valuable Player Award
Punctuated by the 2006 Most Valuable Player Award, Phoenix's Mike Chapman put the wraps on an excellent campaign this year. He scorched the ball at a .283 rate, picking up 139 hits. Along the way, he piled on 96 RBI and torpedoed 33 homers, for what many would argue has been the highlight of the veteran's career.

Bud Smith put together some impressive numbers from Phoenix to garner enough votes for the Pioneer League Rookie of the Year Award. In 110 games he batted .322, clubbing 5 home runs with 51 RBI and 46 runs scored. He also boasted an OBP of .406 and a slugging percentage of .472 for 2006.
