Rio Rancho's Darryl Brendle is teed off--on opposing pitching. He hit .329 in 2006, smacking 13 homers and 61 RBI to win the ZL Outstanding Hitter Award this year. The first baseman also amassed 144 total bases and 30 runs scored.

23-year-old Aljenis Soto put together a magical season for such a young man. A newcomer to the Zia League, Soto brought home the Outstanding Pitcher Award today. In 2006 he amassed 13 wins, lost only 7 times, etched a 2.58 ERA, and nailed 102 strikeouts. He wove 19 quality starts and whipped up a 1.03 WHIP in the process. If he keeps up this pace, Soto will be hoisting up many more little gold statues!
