The 23-year-old first baseman hit the ball with frightening efficiency, piling up a .313 average with 92 hits, 16 home runs, and 66 RBI for a fine year at the plate. |  | Friday, August 25th, 2006: Port Arthur's Bill Gains Takes EL Outstanding Pitcher Award Honors It was as good as money in the bank, when Bill Gains took the hill for Port Arthur. He paid his club back with interest this season with a superb 11 and 2 mark. He also delighted the hometown fans with a fine 1.41 ERA. This special mound performance netted him the highly-regarded and much-desired Outstanding Pitcher Award, too.
